News and Events >>

Public development policies and programs play an important role in achieving the important political, economic and social goal of gender equality. In particular, the budgetary policy of a government has a major role to play in achieving objectives of gender equality as budgets are an important tool to transform political commitments into practice.
The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung together with the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection of Indonesia are organising a conference on Gender Responsive Budgeting (GRB) Initiatives in ASEAN: Key Dimension and Practical Experiences held in Bogor, Indonesia on 5 October 2011

The conference specifically aims at:
-    exchanging experiences encountered in the implementation of GRB in the Southeast Asian region;
-    exploring lessons learned and achievements of existing initiatives;
-    reflecting on (policy) challenges for government bodies and interested parties;
-    promoting a professional network to discuss and exchange strategies and policies regarding GRB among government officials and agencies.

The conference will be attended by the focal points of the ASEAN Committee on Women Plus Three (China, Japan and Korea), government officials/representatives and experts on GRB.
