26-27 March 2012, Singapore - ITUC/FES Asia-Pacific Pre-ILC Meeting |
The Core Labour Standards of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) are a key element of decent work. The Committee of Experts on the Application of Conventions and Recommendations (CEACR), whose work constitutes the cornerstone of the ILO's supervisory system on international labour standards, depends on the capacity of the social partners to provide more facts and information on the respective national labour standards situation. Therefore it is necessary to introduce the ILO methods and resources to the national trade union centers of the region. They will discuss the most severe cases in Asia-Pacific on the basis of the Committee of Experts on the Application of Conventions and Recommendations (CEACR) and prepare themselves for the International Labour Conference (ILC) of the ILO. The participants are the focal points of the Human and Trade Union Rights Network (HTURN) of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) in Asia-Pacific who attend on invitation of the ITUC and with the support of the Global Trade Union Programme of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES).
